Alexander Verstraete originally hails from Rochester, NY. He received his Bachelor of Music in Composition and Trumpet performance (2006), and later in Music Education (2009) from SUNY Fredonia. In 2011 he completed his Masters of Arts from Stony Brook University on Long Island, where he has lived since 2009. He is currently a teacher of Music Technology and Composition in the Roosevelt Union Free School District where he is privileged to run the c0mposition lab he receieved funding to build there. 
In 2006 he began working at GFI Studios in Webster, NY composing demos for NBC Sports. From 2007 - 2008 he worked for The Studios at Linden Oaks in Rochester, NY working with the composition team composing music for local and regional business advertisements, including Raymour and Flanigan Furniture, St. John Fisher College. He also composed the music to the "Aging Well" documentary aired on PBS in 2007.
